These fans are inspired by 19th century riddle fans with riddles on the front and answers on the back. I thought about the fan as a two-page book that conceals and reveals, and filled them with compound words and word pairs. The pieces are made of recycled materials I had at home: pasta boxes, takeout containers, Spindrift cases, drawstrings, and paper scraps. They are displayed in martini-glass-like metal stands made by Dan Roberts.
